Prison System Directorate

Prison System Directorate is a single administrative unit of the Ministry of Justice. It is founded by the Law on the execution of prison sentence.

Prison System Directorate performs administrative and professional tasks related to execution of prison sentence passed in criminal and violations procedures, juvenile imprisonment, fines substituted with prison sentence in penal and misdemeanour procedures, custody measures, that is, measures of pre-trial prison and corrective measures of instructing to correctional institution.

Prison System Directorate consists of the Central Office organised in the seat of Ministry of Justice, of penal bodies (penitentiaries, prisons, correctional institutions) and of Centre for training of penitentiary staff, which is an organisational unit outside Ministry's headquarters.
